I had this completely done once so this one might be the scaled back one! LOL!
First of all... Our vacation was from Thursday afternoon to this afternooon. We are home from Michigan all relaxed and refreshed. (Well sorta! LOL! Isn't it fun to go home to reality and laundry?)
Sadly the only children that could go were Sage and Jason. Sami was at the Kentucky Horse Park at a horse show and Jarred had to work. David Jr did manage to stop by as he was camping with his finance's family about 45 minutes from where Grandma has her trailer in MI.
Second... we (Dave and I) found the coolest ever scrapbook store in Sturgis MI. Not that it was the coolest store in that town but the coolest store I've ever been into. Had a wonderful time shopping there. Especially since it was attached to a perfect little coffee and chocolate shop. YUMMMY!
Lately Dave and I are becoming deeper, more complex and/or appreciative of life, kids etc on occasion. We recently voiced out loud that our smaller children deserve the same "childhood" that our older children had. Thus why we still go to Disney with them, camp, throw footballs etc. We are older, but they (Sami, Jason and Sage especially) still have to have the fun memories and things done with them as the older children did. For instance, Sage was not given the choice of 2o something parents or parents who were 38 and 42 when she was born.
Saturday we were thinking about Dave's uncle who passed away a couple years ago and his grandson Joe. Joe asked Dave after Butch's death, "Who is going to take me shark fishing now?" Apparently Butch had told him that they would go shark fishing. Dave posed a question to me of "who will take them to MI after she is gone?" She meaning his mother.
For many years now, probably at least 20, Dave's mom Jane has been taking our kids - one at a time, two at at a time, or even 5 at a time - with her to her and Grandpa Joe's (Dave's step father) trailer near Colon, Michigan. She has provided them with a huge amount of their memories of fun summers. From swimming and biking to visiting the penny candy store on the grounds, she has provided them with safe fun forever memories. Dave and I are so thankful for her and her patience with them all. She is not getting any younger - she just turned 69. Not only is she doing her job as a grandmother but helping to fill in for the loss of my mom too.
Thanks Grandma Jane.
